Welcome to my Blog

I chose the title of this blog to go with a Beatles song from 1969. The title made sense in October of 2009 because fighting cancer might be a drawn out challenge. I take inspiration where I can, and hope to motivate with my musings about music, my status and anything else related to life. Anyone can post comments; no sign in or account is needed, just click on the comments section towards the bottom of the post and write me a note. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Live Happy- Greg

The Big Climb

My Heart goes out to all of the people of Haiti and at this time I also need to remind us that the KCSO Airport Rescue Firefighters (ARFF) are preparing to don their firefighter gear and climb Seattle's tallest building March 7 in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society aiding in researching and finding a cure for blood and bone cancers. The team is still raising funds and any assistance anyone can provide is welcomed. Here is the KCSO ARFF team website:

Another great way to help is for people to sign up to be a bone marrow donor. I have the link below, the process is a few minutes of computer registration and eventually a swab of the inside of your cheek. The swab is collected and at some time in the future you could be the person who saves or extends the life of someone suffering from Leukemia or other blood/bone cancers. Many Leukemia patients have no choice of sibling or family donors and have to utilize the national registry. Please consider the option.

There is more! I am also proud to announce that my Wife Yvonne is starting a team to climb Seattle's tallest building March 21st (two weeks after the firefighters.) We will have a team name and associated information out this week, please consider joining the team in support of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and climbing the Columbia Tower with us March 21st. 69 floors, if the Firefighters can do it...

I am in! YAY MOM!!!! I know I will be there just a month before, but I am going to try my hardest to come and do the run!

Should I be a bone marrow doner here Dad? I was going to go to the cancer center at the hospital the other day when I was there and ask, but other things came up...hehe...

Anyways, I love you and hope you are having a fabulous day!

Hi Greg, I do not think I can climb all those stairs since I am way out of shape....years of neglecting to exercise!!!! My bad! I will be there to cheer Yvonne and you and everyone in the team on. I am also more than happy to donate to your team and be the "water girl" if need be, just let me know the name of your team! :-) Peace and Love

Yvonne- You go girl! You always have! I would love to join you. But I would have to get a permission slip from the college prez and I already have to be gone for student trips. I would love to do it. Hope you are hanging in. I enjoyed our beach walk. And hope Greg is doing okay and feeling strong.
Feeling very sad about all that is happening in Haiti and wish we could do more.
You all take care. Love and good thoughts to you all.

We will build a great team to climb that darn tower. I am equally excited about the Rescue Firefighters and their commitment to fitness and making a difference! Thanks for the comments- for the record Yvonne and I are planning on walking slowly March 21st, just making it to the top is the goal (although there are many who peek at this blog who could run it easily!) :) Greg
