First of all, I have to share this super cool tattoo my Friend Phil inked to his ankle recently. He joined our "Big Climb" team and after the experience combined the Beatles Apple with our team mantra. Very special tribute I must say!
I don't stray into the 80's or 90's very often but had to after checking out my sister's blog yesterday. Cathy posted this Mike and the Mechanics' powerful song about love. I found another live version after the band reunited for a 2004 concert and am sharing it here. The song was co-written by Mike Rutherford and B. A. Robertson. Robertson wrote the personal lyrics about losing his father and their lack of communication before he died at an early age. Paul Carrack handles the lead vocals and he too coincidentally lost his father at an early age, his bluesy voice fits perfect in the lyrically intense song. Mike Rutherford created this band while on a break from his main group, Genesis in the mid 80's. They had quite a few hits including many played on MTV and VH1. My reason for posting this song to go with a Wednesday break in the action for me is simple. It is never too late to communicate more. Whether with family, friends, co-workers, etc. Thanks for making me think Cathy! Live Happy- Greg
PS: The cells from my bone marrow donor arrive in Seattle tomorrow at 9:34 PM at Sea-Tac, then they go to the Fred Hutch for some screening and finally to U.W. for infusion. So my new birthday might be in the early morning hours of May 14 instead of May 13.
Welcome to my Blog
I chose the title of this blog to go with a Beatles song from 1969. The title made sense in October of 2009 because fighting cancer might be a drawn out challenge. I take inspiration where I can, and hope to motivate with my musings about music, my status and anything else related to life. Anyone can post comments; no sign in or account is needed, just click on the comments section towards the bottom of the post and write me a note. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Live Happy- Greg

My co- workers are wearing` I Got A Fever`T shirts from the big climb on Greg`s new birthday. I am going to do the same here at the hospital in honor of Greg. Anybody want to join in on their own it would be great or any `cowbell` t shirt. It will be a time to celebrate. Yvonne
Thanks, Yvonne, I'll wear my shirt that says "more cowbells" Since I didn't do the climb,(I wouldn't have made that many stairs even tho I would have tried!) Greg that's a great live version! I love the words to that song. One of my former table leaders at Wow read it one night a few years ago. I didn't pay attention to it back then, but I thought about that song the other day. We prayed for you this morning at Wow that everything will go well!

Tonight's the Night. I want to thank everyone for the tremendous support I have received. I would post a song titled "Tonight's the night" by Neil Young but is a little of a downer for a positive event like a stem cell/bone marrow transplant. When I am refreshed in the morning on Friday I will post a bit more about the process. Love, Greg
A new birthday, does that mean you will have to go through puberty again? You and your entire family are in our prayers. Happy birthday Greg!
Gregs new birthday is today May 14 with the new cells starting at 4:45 and ending at 7:00.The new cells flight was delayed and had to go through the process at the Hutch. Greg did well with only a mild hiccup.Half way through he was having increased pressure in the left chest/rib area. The doctor was called in to check it all out and slowed down the flow of the cells. This seemed to help with most symptoms resolved at this time.Greg is doing okay at this time just tired.
Thank you for the update Yvonne, I am wearing the "I Got a Fever -More Cowbell" T-shirt with a little angel pin on it today to wish Greg a very Happy Birthday!! He will get well very soon!!! Our thoughts and prayers will be with you, Greg and the family!!! Live Strong and Happy! :-)
Thanks for the update, Yvonne
I wish I could be there. He's in our thoughts and prayers. I hope to make it up there sometime soon.
Love, Cathy

I wish I could have been there to show my support. Greg's been in my thoughts and prayers today, I hope he has a speedy recovery and that every thing goes well.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. I am doing well, food doesn't taste too good right now so getting the fuel is difficult. I am going to try the Chinese food special on the menu tonight, maybe some sweet and sour will do the trick! Love, Greg
Hope you have a speedy recovery,
Love, Cathy
ps Mark and Arlene both send their love and prayers via facebook.
Sharon sent her love and prayers via facebook, too! So many family members are thinking about you. I hope this morning finds you getting stronger.
Love, Cathy
