The highlight of the evening was seeing the group Chicago for the first time. Accompanied by the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra, Chicago rocked through most if not all of their big hits. Robert Lamm directed the evening quite well, my voice is still weak from quietly singing along. I think there are four original members still active, comparing to a lot of the groups from the 60's and 70's that is impressive in itself.
I am starting the last two days of my first MOAD Chemo session today. I hope it goes better than the first part two weeks ago. My throat is still a mess from radiation (I think) and causing me to seek alternatives to managing the pain or getting to the bottom of the problem. Our summer seems to be over, it was fun while it lasted... My point in all of this is I sometimes feel a little mixed up when asked about my condition or how I feel. Some times I even want to answer with an existential retort when trying to explain day to day things. Chicago (Robert Lamm wrote it in 1969) I think tried to say something similar and craft the song in the Beatles tradition. I included a 1977 cut that turned out much better than my phone video recorder from the concert. Live Happy!

Prayers for a successful chemo treatment. Looks like everyone had a good time at the fair. Chicago was and is a good band. So much better than rap or hip hop.
Love, Cathy
Excellent choice of tunes! Puts it in perspective, doesn't it, the line about the diamond watch? Illness is the great equalizer. "You've got your health, you've got your wealth," my Grandma always said. Greg, I think you look fantastic for all you have been through, certainly not as gaunt as Steve and others I have seen. I, too, sang along with all the songs, it was wonderful. Nice to know that part of my brain can go back that far, too :) Good luck with the rest of your treatment, and thanks for choosing a clip where Jimmy is wearing skin tight leather pants!!
Prayers,
we did the fair monday morning, mainly the venders, in at 1030 and out at 1330. I was pretty well tired out myself after the walking around. Sunni enjoyed it and was able to inter-react with a dozen or so disabled and a bunch of kids, so all and all it was a good day.
best as always
Hi Greg,
It looks like a fun time was had by all at the Fair! Knock out these two chemo sessions like the champion you are, and enjoy your weekend. We'll talk soon!
Hi Greg, You look good, really good!! I think Mrs. Washington was the lucky one to have the photo op with you!! :-P My prayer goes to you and hope the next session will not be as bad as the last session. Keep thinking happy thoughts and try to ignore everything else. Praying for a very good result after the sessions. Think Positive and live Happy!! :-)
Hope this session goes better. I was in the ER Monday with a small bowel blockage. There always seems to be roadblocks and hurdles when facing this damn cancer. Keep the chin up and we will get there together in the winners circle partner. TRex
Thanks for the comments folks. Just got home from chemo, which turned out to be cut by 3/4 since my white cells were for some very strange unknown reason- nonexistent. Back to the drawing board and no chemo at all until more labs and tests next week. At least I get the weekend off! Like Sue said, great lyrics to today's song. :)
Greg-
Love the pictures and glad you all could enjoy the concert. Hope the white cell count goes up (that would be good in this case, right?!) Sue is right, you do look great. How could you not smile when getting your picture taken with 2nd runner-up Mrs. Washington!
I always thought no one really knows what time it is. We have a house full of clocks and none of them are the right time. Hang in there and get ready for your next boxing round of chemo. Hit the mits and fight hard.
(We just watched the movie The Fighter.) And speaking of combacks to inspire-the Iowa Hawkeyes scored 4 touchdowns in the last 17 minutes to beat Pitt 31-27!
Sis boom bah to cancer. Go, Fight, Win!
love and prayers,
Mary D.
Thank you Mary, you little cheerleader you!
