Welcome to my Blog

I chose the title of this blog to go with a Beatles song from 1969. The title made sense in October of 2009 because fighting cancer might be a drawn out challenge. I take inspiration where I can, and hope to motivate with my musings about music, my status and anything else related to life. Anyone can post comments; no sign in or account is needed, just click on the comments section towards the bottom of the post and write me a note. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Live Happy- Greg

Jerry Garcia covers "Dear Prudence"

I have to post without the ability to see the video I am attaching, but trust that the Jerry Garcia Band did a good job in 1989 with a fairly obscure Beatles cut written by John, Dear Prudence. It is a pretty song John took more influence from the groups trip to India in 1967. Jerry and band probably take it in some slower and different directions with maybe even a jam session? Life is worth living and experiencing. My chemo is progressing nicely including the dreaded spinal infusion/extraction today. I had a great view of sunny Mt. Rainier most of the day with visiters to boot. Let me know how this video plays out compared to the real deal.

You sure have been thru alot. I pray for healing and that you won't have pain, but that when you do, he'll see you thru it. Happy Birhtday, Elvis. Love his music. I still remember the day he dies, Joetta Heard (our old Nieghbor) was crying. Love, Cathy

First a disclaimer. I have never seen Jerry Garcia perform live. That said, the appeal of seeing a 'jam band' live instead of on video or a recording for me is that when it's live and it's good you get to feed off the band and the rest of the audience as everyone starts to get into the extended play of the music. It just kind of takes over. Most videos don't convey that atmosphere.
We hope you're doing well today Greg and we're thinking of you.

I was able to technologically view the JGB and must say that even with the poor video quality a jam version of Dear Prudence is refreshing and Jerry did the the Beatles fine.

My sister Cathy has jumped on the blog train and has one up at: livingwithmnd@blogspot.com it's also available under my about me/complete profile section, blogs I follow.

Check it out. Live Happy!

Jerry had a unique and fine guitar style. I saw him a few times in the 80's-90's and wished I had seen more, a small venue would have been a treat. Keep on. I will make some powder snow turns this weekend in of all places South Dakota and Nebraska. Looking forward to getting back out west to some big mountains soon.

So far so good until this morning. I found out I have to stay in the hospital until Sunday morning. I think my Doctor was confused due to his being ill and gave me some over enthusiastic news Friday. Oh well, at least the view is good this morning. Greg
