Welcome to my Blog
I chose the title of this blog to go with a Beatles song from 1969. The title made sense in October of 2009 because fighting cancer might be a drawn out challenge. I take inspiration where I can, and hope to motivate with my musings about music, my status and anything else related to life. Anyone can post comments; no sign in or account is needed, just click on the comments section towards the bottom of the post and write me a note. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. "You Should Be Dancing"
Oh those 1970's icons The Bee Gees! I vividly remember going from disco hating fire breathing "Ban disco" to wanting to be in the discotheque hoping to get lucky. My reason for the post today is while I am at day 72 I feel like I should be able to dance. Our dog Sadie should be able to chase a ball. We are both having issues, mine is a new bacterial infection causing me to be slowed to a near standstill, Sadie's is a probable ACL rupture. We are taking Sadie into the Vet tomorrow on the way to pick up some Cipro for me, when we return to town we should know if Sadie has to have a surgical solution. Poor Sadie, she can't bear any weight on her left rear leg and lays around a lot. We had a great if slowed a bit time this past weekend by the by. We drove to Crystal Mountain ski resort for a day trip picnicking on a bagel and cream cheese. We used to take Sadie up there and spend some real quality time hiking and swimming in some hidden high country lakes for her ultimate enjoyment. We had to leave her home Sunday.

As the proud owner of not only a replacement ACL but a dog with one also, I can tell you that Sadie will probably be ready to go when you are. Did you know that Lance fell 5 times during the tour, was pretty much out of the race less than halfway through, but still got up and led Team Radio Shack to the team title a week later? They came into Paris all wearing number 28 for the 28 million people in the world living with cancer. They want you to get up and pedal tomorrow, and to live STRONG.
I,m sorry you are having such a hard time. I hope you get to feeling better. Puff had the acl surgery and it,s given her many years of use on her right leg.
Love, cathy
Let us know how you respond to the cipro and how Sadies doing.
Hey Greg sorry to hear about Sadie. As oyu may rememebr my black lab had the same issue and it was his crucia ligamnet, or our ACL. Surgery and I could not keep him calm after that....hope you are doing better and hang in there. Bob Meyer
Greg, Had a bout with a stomach virus, took cipro for a week. It worked quite well. Good luck with yours. Have you had a chance to inquire about Florajen 3 yet? Love Dad and Alice
Thanks for the motivation everyone, Lance even tried to wear a nice team shirt on the stroll down the champs, was rebuffed and continued to be the person everyone wanted to see at the end. I am back on the bike tonight in his honor. Sadie, she will come back stronger too. I just want to know what my infection is!
Greg-the pic of you in the previous post is great! You look good. And I am a huge fan of the BeeGees because I was too young to go to the disco. Sorry to hear about the infections and Sadie's injury. Hope both heal soon and that you both take it easy in the meantime. Though somehow I can't see Sadie or you sitting still for long! :-)
Watched the last day of the Tour, cool to see Lance and team on the podium. Where else can skinny men in lycra holding flowers and stuffed animals be cheered by thousands! Ride on.
thinking of you guys,
Mary D.
I hope you are feeling better, and poor Sadie, too. Are you thinking about the surgery for her acl? Puff had it, gave her many more years of function in her leg.
Cathy, we see the orthopedic specialist next week, but yes we will probably with the TLPO surgery that will cost somewhere near $3200. I discovered my bacterial infection is another rare one- Rhizobium Radiobachter. (1-2 people have got it over the past two years.) Good thing Cipro seems to take care of it!
We seem to have the corner on rare diseases! your cancer and infections and me with the crest, it's rare, too. Wow Sadies sugery is more than puffs was, but she had hers 6 years ago. I hope you feel better,
Love, cathy
Buddy had the TLPO sugery with great success. and the cost is about the same we paid 7 years ago. She will be a new girl....sounds like the Cipro is doing what is does well, good news. take care. Bob Meyer
Hang in there tiger, you have a light at the end of the tunnel. will be in Enumclaw, Saturday at the fair grounds for a dog show and to get our Golden retriever certified(if she passes the test) as an assistance dog for use in nursing homes and assisted care centers. They are also holding the Highland "games" at the same time.
Lord bless and keep you and Yours.
Hank
Hank, good luck with the cert. Those Scots are in town? That seals the deal, we are getting out maybe go to Yakima for some fresh fruit sopping and a road trip. Dad, I found some good florajen like stuff in town with lots of good probiotics. Bob, it's only 75 or so tomorrow! I shaved that mess off my mouth and my head hair is growing back twice as fast. I might have to buy a comb in another month. Have a great weekend everyone.
G, will be in Black Diamond next weekend. Let me know if you and Yvonne are up for a visit. Let me know if you have any special requests. Cambo
