Welcome to my Blog

I chose the title of this blog to go with a Beatles song from 1969. The title made sense in October of 2009 because fighting cancer might be a drawn out challenge. I take inspiration where I can, and hope to motivate with my musings about music, my status and anything else related to life. Anyone can post comments; no sign in or account is needed, just click on the comments section towards the bottom of the post and write me a note. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Live Happy- Greg

Slow Down

One of the really early Beatles rockers. Slow Down was written and performed by Larry Williams in 1958. The Beatles recorded the 12 bar blues song in 1964 as a B side of Matchbox 45 single for the U.S. Just a rousing early rocker, John sang lead as at the time he was clearly the leader of the group. I chose Slow Down as an accompaniment to my being back on prednisone as of yesterday. I had some pretty good outbreaks of Graft Vs. Host Disease (skin rash all over) so back on the steroids for awhile to control/stop the outbreak. Pred as it is know makes me hyper, and gives me an almost euphoric "I can do anything" attitude. This on again off again use of pred will probably continue for the rest of my life. I am trying top get used to it by being more active, which in turn will help me sleep. The up and downsides of this powerful drug are hard to measure to make sure it is worth it, what I do know was the addition of pred completely ended my leg pain that was keeping me up more than pred does now.  I am alive, hopefully able to thank my donor personally very soon and that is that. I swam and did some other exercise today, am going to do some household stuff to make sure I am good and tired by tonight. I might even make dinner-  I hope the fathers out there have a great weekend! Mikhael my youngest is coming home for at least part of the weekend with us.  The triathletes are going north to Victoria for the 1/2 ironman Sunday- I wish all of the Team N Training team well. Praying for some sun!   Greg
PS: I hope you like the nostalgic video- worth a watch"

Glad the medication helps. Have you heard from Dad? We have a new roof, the guy that did it was very nice, he was praying for me.

Greg-glad to read a new post and hope the pred helps.Sounds like it has already. Hope the side effects become more manageable. Being active sounds good, that seems to be the only way I get myself to sleep.
Hope you are getting some sunshine. We are still getting lots of rain but always sunshine afterwards.
The big living room remodel is almost done.
Enjoy your retirement and time off.Happy Father's Day! See you soon,
love and prayers,

Mary- We saw sun one day, then soggy rain half of the day today... I was thinking it was a weekend yesterday- It feels weird to lose track of days as a soon to be retiree- but you professors with your Summer's off know what it is like I should think!

See you soon. Love, Greg

Now what day is it?! Yes, it happens very easy. And that's not a bad thing. But your bro likes to remind me what day it is. He especially likes to remind me how many weeks it is until school starts again.
He just got notified about a new FS early retiree program and is thinking...
Wishing you more sun and feel good vibes.
Looking forward to hanging out with you guys. Everybody into the pool!

Greg, We really like the idea of seeing a Braves game or two. We could also drive to Portland and visit Cathy and Les. Maybe see a game Tuesday and Wednesday. Let us know if you are up to it. Love Dad and Alice

Dad, this will be the only time the Braves invade Safeco- of course we want you to come. I think I have some free time. :)
