Meet the winners in the dives
Where the people are the real stars
All the rest of their lives." It goes on-
As long as we can sail away-
As long as we can sail away-
There'll be wind in the canyon
Moon on the rise, As long as we can sail away.
This is a photo of my beautiful daughter Natalie and her handsome husband Sam Suiter from the July 2009 rehearsal dinner for their Aug 1 wedding. The other photos are from Waimea Bay North Shore Oahu where my family was swimming with wild spinner dolphins close to the sailing ship. July 2009.
My only updates today are: I am losing my hair, so I shaved it off. I am back to work looking for a nice hat, and am looking forward to seeing as many KCSO staff as possible before I go back to inpatient Chemo on 10-28.

Thanks for stopping by today, Greg. It was great to see you. I like the new hairdo. Looks good on you. You're in my prayers and I'll get the Sisters of Providence on the praying right away too! Take care. Cheri
Swimming with those dolphins seriously made that week so special! I am so glad we all got to do it...reminiscing about Hawaii? I just realized that my screen name from forever ago is dolphinfinder...how funny...cause we found them! I can't wait for you guys to come visit again. I love you.
Love, Natalie
At 8 am this morning, a Mass was said in your name at St. Pats, Chadron, Nebraska. I attended with my mom and who else walks in the door?! Alan! The priest said your name out loud in the prayer intentions and we all prayed for you. A line from one of the readings stayed in my mind..."Who will deliver me from this mortal body?"
You were with us on our run again last night. As we ran up the hardened mud road in the dusk, we saw the prints of deer, coyote, raccoon. On the high ridge, we saw the sun setting, black silhouettes of the pine trees with pastel streaks of pink and blue behind. We won't tell you how many times we had to stop to go the bathroom. Running downhill in the dark, we narrowly missed what looked like a bush and turned out to be frightened, chirping porcupine. Sometimes the dark can hold vibrant life and delight.
My parent's neighbor is a breast cancer survivor, had lost her hair and now she has the most amazing head of curls! (And she had straight hair before!)
But bald is where it's at!
To quote a famous line from Kojak...
"Who loves ya, baby?"
WE DO!
Chief D. Hey just looked at the "old Man" aka 50-54 results for the Cascade Edge TRI, and all you need next year is a 1:11 for 1st and a 1:24 for 3rd, so keep training. Hey if you dont win a medal, I will let you hold the one I will probably win!!! Get well!!
Jason
Thanks for the comments you Great People! I am so lucky to find encouragement every day from such inspirational winning people! Mary- your words are very powerful, thanks for the Mass. I will show a pic soon of the new hairdo- it's nothing special. Jhouckwsu- now you know why my swim time was so bad! Next year I will have beaten this cancer thing and won't have to compete in the clydesdale division either! GD
Hi Greg, Sorry I missed seeing your new hairdo!! I was not at work today. Went to a Short Sale Real Estate class with my sister. She came up from San Diego and will be with me for the next three days. I am really sorry I missed you. Next time when you visit again, I will be there. :-)
T-Rex, nice tan on the head shot. I could learn something from you!
Greg, I was downtown this morning and got the skinny on your blog. I read through from the start so I'm up to speed now. My wife, kids and I say a prayer for you at dinner every night. Go for gold! Rob Mathis
Thanks Rob, for the prayers and the push! G
