Welcome to my Blog

I chose the title of this blog to go with a Beatles song from 1969. The title made sense in October of 2009 because fighting cancer might be a drawn out challenge. I take inspiration where I can, and hope to motivate with my musings about music, my status and anything else related to life. Anyone can post comments; no sign in or account is needed, just click on the comments section towards the bottom of the post and write me a note. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Live Happy- Greg

"Strawberry Fields Forever"

The Beatles and the world were moving into new areas in late 1966 and early 1967. Psychedelia had just gripped the music industry with the San Francisco sound. John Lennon began to wear "granny glasses" in public for the first time. The Beatles and most artists of the day would spend more time and money producing 45 RPM Singles and then perhaps support those efforts with a 33 1/3 RPM Album. In February 0f 1967 Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane was the single effort for the Beatles. But...for the first time since "Love Me Do" a Beatles single did not go to number one in the U.K. charts (it went to #2.) Other controversies were occurring at the same time, the Beatles announced they would quit touring, and John made his "we're more popular than Jesus" comments. John was wrong on that particular prediction... Me I just like this line from Strawberry Fields Forever; "Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see. It's getting hard to be someone, but it all works out." We all see things differently, which is a good thing as long as we can listen to others at the same time. I'm going in for 4 days of Chemo later this morning, hopefully "it all works out." I will be online at the hospital and hope to continue to post and talk during treatment. Greg

Hey 5-0,

Love the blog and learning about the Beattles! I very much enjoyed seeing you yesterday at the staff meeting and getting to watch the "jousting" yet again! So much fun! Hang in there through round #2. We are all thinking about you.

Thanks for the Packer optimism my green and yellow (or is it gold?) friend. My Beatles look for Halloween might have to change as even my sideburns are falling out this morning. We will see-

Hang in there, Greg. You have so much to live for, so many people who care about you. I didn't know John L made that comment. He's not the first or the last to feel that way. But he never faced a life threating disease. I'm learning alot about the Beatles. I never paid much attention to them before your blog. I would read it with or without.

Hey all, made it to the hospital only to be turned around due to lack of beds this morning. So, I am playing a waiting game to see if I get in tonight or tomorrow morning. Thanks for checking in. Greg

I guess a postponement could be a good thing--more time at home. I think your costume of Beatle Paul is a great idea. He was the cutest one after all. Well, hmm, maybe not. I like them all.
We are getting pounded with snow for 2 days here. They just cancelled classes for tomorrow! I am headed to Walmart to stock up on candles, batteries and food. Expecting the power to go out again.
We send Neil Young "Prairie Wind" vibes from here. Though the prairie is being awfully cruel today.
Your strength and attitude are a great inspiration.
Love and good thoughts to you. Strawberry Fields forever!

Watching baseball is kinda like watching paint dry anyway, isn't it? :0) Best wishes for a speedy time away from home and your now established routine of workouts and blogging. Just getting home from work and hearing of a winter storm watch in the area for tomorrow.. guess ya gotta be careful what you wish for.. we wanted a change so here goes! Time to harness up the dogs..and mules.. what a ride that would be.

I look forward to hearing how things are going...

I feel for Linda and Mary out in those eastern plains and mountains with snows... We get five days of rain to look forward to. I forgot to mention that I predict a Phillies paint drying series in 6 for those baseball fans out there. Starting chemo right now, hopefully a new post after some sleep...
