Karen and Richard did it well. The Carpenters version was actually releaqsed in 1969- probably before most people would've thought. Look at Karen's hari in the video! They do a completely different take on a classic John Lennon song from 1965's Help album.
John and the Paul were in dispute about what "ticket to ride" meant. Paul said it was related to a ticket on British Railways to the Isle of Wight; John said it was related to the cards carried by Hamburg prostitutes indicating a clean bill of health in the early 1960's. The Carpenters probably didn't care. Natalie and Sam flew out this morning and now my Dad, Alice and my sister Cathy are visiting for a few days. I did a stair climb this morning and am feeling good here at St. Joes.
Welcome to my Blog
I chose the title of this blog to go with a Beatles song from 1969. The title made sense in October of 2009 because fighting cancer might be a drawn out challenge. I take inspiration where I can, and hope to motivate with my musings about music, my status and anything else related to life. Have a wonderful visit with your family!!! We are all training for the climb too! Ran into Chief Burtt when a few ladies here at the courthouse and I were huffing and puffing up the stairs!! Glad you are feeling good after you did your stair climb!! We all have the "ticket to climb" at the Big Climb! Hope we will be ready on the 21st!!! :-)
Thank you Alice. My dad is bringing me some pizza tonight! I know you will be ready, if you can walk you can climb. We have 49 team members as of today and are going to be one of the largest teams there. It should be a lot of fun. :)
What great video! Love the cheesiness of it, the clothes, though Richard Carpenter is never anything but intensely earnest.
Karen, in this song and video, is way ahead of her time. She is actually singing about being a ski widow here. :-) The term ride now means anyone sliding on snow via skis or snowboard.
Congrats on the big climb team! That is great news! As is #7 chemo. Almost done! Have a great visit with the family!
