Welcome to my Blog

I chose the title of this blog to go with a Beatles song from 1969. The title made sense in October of 2009 because fighting cancer might be a drawn out challenge. I take inspiration where I can, and hope to motivate with my musings about music, my status and anything else related to life. Anyone can post comments; no sign in or account is needed, just click on the comments section towards the bottom of the post and write me a note. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Live Happy- Greg

"Here it goes Again"

My cousin is the lead singer and creative force behind Ok Go, one of those groups that is hard to categorize. Equal parts rock, pop, punk rock, dance and vaudeville- this was their first hit and of course it went viral on Youtube and other video sites. I hope you enjoy the youthful exuberance. The leader is Damien Kulash, the tall guy with red pants. There is really no significance to this post other than comedy and family. I finished the second chemo of three today with no bad side effects other than fatigue. Had some great visitors including my wife and son. I can't wait to finish this series to see if I am moving towards remission- so far my numbers are going in that direction. Peace and Love- Greg

Greg is finally home after 9 1/2 days! Yeah!!! He is happy to be home and Sadie was so excited. He got so many very gentle love bites. The car ride home really tired him out but he is ok. Yvonne

Sounds like it has been rough. Can't even imagine what you are going through. Wish we could all share and lessen the pain. Rest up and then battle it back. Glad you made it home.

This is the third day I've been home- still getting used to the chemo side effects. I am going in for daily blood tests and tomorrow we go in for a regular dr. visit too. So far the blood counts are all over the board and I get a platelets infusion tomorrow. We are trying to find out our next steps, more chemo??? Hopefully we learn something tomorrow. Love, Greg

Greg, guidance is good, visits to the docs give you direction. You know that. Steve loved getting platelets, BAM! DONE! Labs are like the weather, some days are predictable, some days you get surprised. Either way, you roll, baby!

Greg,
At the Team In Training Practice tonight I gave the team an update on you as our mission moment. It reminded everyone why we're working to beat this disease with you. Stay strong, everyone on the team is pulling for you with lots of prayers. --Melinda

Thanks Melinda and Sue! I had a good quick day of platelets infused which included breakfast! I go back tomorrow for a bag of blood due to the hematocrit going down significantly. Sue, I almost forgot about the fun involved with transfusions. Greg

Thanks for the update. Breakfast included, eh? How you feeling overall? Cathy

Greggers, am so sorry that you are having to experience this really dark side of cancer treatment... wish I had a magic wand and could make it all go away for you. But, since my wand broke several years ago, please feel comforted by the love of everyone who's lives you have touched... you have and are continuing to make such an inspirational difference in the lives of so many... Please keep it up! Hugs to you and your family. KKW
