It might be hard to believe, my first song on shuffle for my bicycle ride this morning was "Across The Universe." The song was originally written just after the trip to India in 1968, and placed on the Let It Be album in 1969. John wrote the song, and considered it is best lyrical composition as a Beatle. There are haunting lyrics, a Sanskrit mantra, but in the end a message of joy and love. In 2003 the Beatles remastered the Let It Be album without all of the Phil Spector over-production and made Let It Be, Naked. The attached video is of that watered down production.
*On another note, I highly recommend the Movie Across the Universe as an escapist way to learn more about the turbulent 60's in modern day England. It's a love-musical story well worth a rental.
Lyrics of note: "Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind,
Possessing and caressing me. Limitless undying love which shines
around me like a Million suns, it calls me on and on Across the universe Jai guru de va om Nothing's gonna change my world, Nothing's gonna change my world."

Welcome to my Blog
I chose the title of this blog to go with a Beatles song from 1969. The title made sense in October of 2009 because fighting cancer might be a drawn out challenge. I take inspiration where I can, and hope to motivate with my musings about music, my status and anything else related to life. Anyone can post comments; no sign in or account is needed, just click on the comments section towards the bottom of the post and write me a note. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Have a great day, keep riding!
Love, Cathy
Yes, beautiful lyrics. We rented "Across the Universe" last year when my art students were raving about it to me. Like the lyrics, it has powerful and haunting imagery. I guess that is how they are learning about the 1960s. That movie got us started on a Beatles movie kick and we watched some great documentaries and movies like "Help."
Glad to hear you got in a bike ride this morning. Keep up the great work. Endurance athletes endure and survive.
Joy and love.
I love movies, I rented at least two each week. I would love to watch this movie you recommended. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experiences on the Beatles with us.
Today will be a rainy day. I do love the rain, it refreshes our spirits. Thanks for being a friend!! :-) We will all be praying for your full recovery!!! Peace and love.
Lovely day for a bike ride, inside of course! I am inspired to climb on the trainer tonight just to keep up with you. Steady on!
