It's 1966, the Beach Boys (Brian Wilson) are competing almost album for album with the Beatles. Brian Wilson hears Rubber Soul and is inspired to write an album to compete with or even surpass Rubber Soul in terms of technology, harmonies, new directions, etc. The Beach Boys had actually released more albums than the Beatles by 1966; Pet Sounds being their 12th. "God Only Knows" was the opening track on side two of the album and the first single- it's a simple love song with all sorts of new changes and harmonies that until 1966 were unheard of. After Pet Sounds Paul McCartney was so impressed that he and the fabs went to work on Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band... Listen for the changes in tempo, a french horn, and distinct harmonies. Carl Wilson sings lead and Brian harmonizes so well. Beautiful Song.
Welcome to my Blog
I chose the title of this blog to go with a Beatles song from 1969. The title made sense in October of 2009 because fighting cancer might be a drawn out challenge. I take inspiration where I can, and hope to motivate with my musings about music, my status and anything else related to life. Anyone can post comments; no sign in or account is needed, just click on the comments section towards the bottom of the post and write me a note. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Live Happy- Greg

Thanks for introducing me to the Rock and Roll world!! I did not know anything growing up. My little world was only school, piano and ballet lessons. My parents were very strict, no TV, only classical music at home, sometimes Frank Sinatra because my Dad liked his songs. Hope you are recovering nicely and getting stronger!! :-)
Yes I'm learning alot about Rock and Roll as well. Some advice to all, you don't want to take Greg on in a game of Trivial Pursuit, he'll wipe the floor with you! Greg, Hope you are getting stronger and feeling better. We'll see you Dec 4th, sound ok? If your house is full we can bring an air mattress or get hotel room. Love, Cathy
I almost forgot to mention that there is a Buzz night in my honor this Thursday organized by Chief Howard of the ARFF. It's at the ARFF base 3-7PM. Food will be served- Donations to the Luekemia/Lymphoma Society will be taken. Greg
I'm thinking it's time for you to step out into something more aggressive for the 60's Greg. Time for Steppenwolf and Born To Be Wild. As one part of the songs lyrcs say:..."Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild!" Of course, looking at the viking helmet at the NA you may have already found your wild side....
Omar- tomorrow will be a rocker. I earned that Viking Helmet!
Alice, I'm back in to chemo tomorrow, I have brought my blood levels up to normal and am ready to take on session #3. I will keep everyone in the loop as much as possible. Greg
Greg,
Best wishes for the next session. Glad you are starting at normal and the rollercoaster fever settled down.
I hear you are getting lots of rain (giggle) We saw a few photos of the annual pineapple express and we are sooo glad we were able to sell our place and get away from a bridge access to our place and downed trees over the seven mile access road.. whew!
I had a deer run onto my car last night as I crossed the pass to home. Scared the #@*! out of me. She survived but dented my rig... I can only imagine if I was in a smaller vehicle.
Buck the mule did not work out.. and not because he bucks. He is just too green and will be another project mule and I already have one of them. I need to find some old ranch horse and go exploring.
We attended our first planning meeting for the dog sled race in January. Pretty cool group of people who volunteer to put on the annual race. We'll keep you posted just in case you want to bring Sadie for a spin. They are adding a 10 mile skijouring competition so order up her harness and come on over.
Keep the blogs coming.. Good Luck!
