Welcome to my Blog

I chose the title of this blog to go with a Beatles song from 1969. The title made sense in October of 2009 because fighting cancer might be a drawn out challenge. I take inspiration where I can, and hope to motivate with my musings about music, my status and anything else related to life. Anyone can post comments; no sign in or account is needed, just click on the comments section towards the bottom of the post and write me a note. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Live Happy- Greg

"Because"

Today's Beatles song and video come courtesy of an inspired bicycle ride this morning. The three part harmonies were streaming through my room and I couldn't help but notice that the three Beatles John, Paul, and George) singing this song sound a lot like the Beach Boys and other better known harmonizers. The lyrics are simple and very pretty as well. This was one of the last songs written by John as a Beatle, found on the Abbey Road Album circa 1969. The attached video is from the "Anthology" T.V. show highlighting just the vocals. Please give it a listen, kind of eerie. Lyrics:

Ah, because the world is round
it turns me on
Because the world is round

Ah, because the wind is high
it blows my mind
Because the wind is high

Ah, love is old, love is new
Love is all, love is you

Because the sky is blue
it makes me cry
Because the sky is blue

Ah, ah, ah, ah

This has always been one of my favorite Beatle albums and Because ties with Golden Slumbers for my favorite song on it. Still, it doesn't seem to have the type of beat to bike ride to...more a "drink a glass of wine to" type of song. The fact that you are riding a bike in the AM to ANY music is quite impressive though. I consider it a triumph just to get my cup of tea poured in the morning.

I am at lunch and I just finished listening to the song "Because". It's a soul searching kind of song....seems quiet and yet there is a lot of passion behind the seemingly quiet contemplation!!

Three cheers to your early work out!! :-) Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and healthy good food. Don't forget to drink a lot of water too!! (I usually drink luke warm water, it's a cultural thing for me!) Keep up the good work! We are all very proud of you!!!!!! :-)

Glad to hear you got a bike workout in.

Enjoyed very much hearing "Because." It was a sea of calm in a hectic day.

Hope you are feeling good and finding calm and peace.
