Welcome to my Blog

I chose the title of this blog to go with a Beatles song from 1969. The title made sense in October of 2009 because fighting cancer might be a drawn out challenge. I take inspiration where I can, and hope to motivate with my musings about music, my status and anything else related to life. Anyone can post comments; no sign in or account is needed, just click on the comments section towards the bottom of the post and write me a note. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Live Happy- Greg

"Run"

Happy post Thanksgiving! I have to sneak in one more cute photo from about 1993 or so and Yvonne's first triathlon. Her swim went well but after trying to start on the bike and two or three flat tires she had to give it up. Look at the kids' though!

I hope the food and family ventures went well for everyone. I got some good news Wednesday (bone marrow is clean) and then discovered if I go forward with bone marrow or stem cell transplant that UW Physicians (Part of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center) are in a dispute with my insurance company and probably wont be available to me after Jan 10 2010. Sometimes it is two step forward one step back.

Today's song is from a newer singer-songwriter from Scotland thanks again to free i-tunes from Starbucks. Amy MacDonald will be a name you will eventually hear if you haven't already. "Run" is a broken love I am not giving up on love song. I liked the throaty almost peaty voice and pure talent, please give it a listen. It's meaningful and explosive, with some tenderness at the same time.

*Once more I want to give thanks to Bryan Howard and the ARFF crew for a tremendous Buzz night last week. I am pledging to donate to each of his Big Climb members as they prepare to climb the Columbia Tower this spring, and I hope others will help out the Lymphoma/Leukemia Society in this fund raising/team - building event.

I had a great Thanksgiving dinner with my two children and a very nice gentleman; this is the first Thanksgiving I spent with this good friend whom I have known for ten years. Perhaps it may lead to something wonderful in the future!! I am sure yours must filled with a lot of love and many thanks and really yummy food too!! I love the picture you posted today. Yvonne is so beautiful even when she was a little disappointed and the children were all so adorably cute!! :-)

I sincerely hope there is a solution to your insurance problem soon! Peace and Love

Hi Greg,
So much to be thankful for ..Excellent news about having made so much progress and clean bone marrow. I hope that the insurance dispute is resolved quickly and you get to the next step as soon as you are ready.

We were reflecting on all the things that have led us to our current situation and could not determine where to start to say thanks. We sent a note to our Realtor thanking him for working so hard to sell our place so we could move over here. We have a great family just down the road with the perfect combination of skills.. My brother-in-law is a master gardner and his wife is an incredible cook.. we had a wonderful dinner.. and invited back for left overs last night.. two Thanksgivings for one Holiday.

We met some incredible new friends yesterday.. they have mules and have recently retired over here. They have lots of riding ideas and experience with builders, gardening, winterizing for livestock.. all sorts of good information and very nice as well.

We then tried to find a business up in Oroville.. but no luck on finding it. We choose to take a "back road" home and saw some spectacular views up along the Canadian Border.

We are so thankful for our family, friends new and old, beautiful places to see and joy in our new life over here together and in new adventures everyday.

I hope you have a great visit with family and continue on your path to success.

Alice, that is so nice to hear, a success story for Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a great time. It's Black and Blue Saturday for me, off to the Doctor's office for a early morning shot then maybe some shopping or some honey=do projects. We will see, maybe I will come home with a new car. Shop Happy! :) Greg

Linda- you're an early riser or is it feeding the mules and such? Nice to hear about your trips and exploration. I hope to one day be in a spot to be able to enjoy life a bit more!
